Responsibility…
This morning listening to Abraham Hicks, I got a deeper understanding of this word that many of us love.
She shares that responsibility starts with being responsive. We are responsive to the most active thoughts we have; meaning our focus. This is what determines the choices we make and the results we get. Responsibility is how we attend to that point of attention.
Most people are living by default, responding to external factors, the news, requests of others, etc. Meaning that what is coming to you is what captures your focus. Then, many times, when people want something from you, they are setting rules for you to follow that are not necessarily asking you to “do your best to feel good as much as you can.” Usually, they are about the “sacrifice and commitment you need to have, no matter what, to be in line with their expectations.”
Our ability to feel good, regardless of external factors or people around us, for the simple reason of honoring our intentional choices, is the most powerful ability to create the reality and life we want for ourselves. This can become true for every one of us if we practice ways to intentionally program our thoughts in a way that comes from a true choice and based on what is important to us. Some ways in which I have trained myself in this matter are meditation, surrounding myself with people that are living the reality I want to manifest for myself, being in nature, swimming to move my body and clear my mind, and many other avenues.
I have experienced hard and great times under the same external conditions by understanding that every subject has two sides: the wanted and unwanted. For example, at work, I have the choice to perform my job responsibilities focusing on the outcome through a positive lens of providing the most value possible instead of conforming and pleasing others (fear of judgement/failure). That simple shift has made the biggest difference. Personally, saying yes to the people and activities that I truly want to enjoy.
What is driving your responsibility today: the external world pressures or your intentional choices that drive you to feel good?
