Integration- a must!

Have you struggled answering the question: What are you all about?

I have done it as well.  During my quest to find an answer, I noticed that many others also struggle with this.  We can describe areas of our life we are most familiar with; however, this leaves out many sides which are integral to our uniqueness and the true value we bring to the world.

Last weekend #TonnyRobbins said that we should strive for work-life integration instead of work-life balance. This powerful distinction gave me a simple way to describe my belief that work is one of the outlets of who we are at our core.  Can we see how our work experiences are enabling us to shape our personal vision and life purpose?  I struggle with the approach of many in corporate America where they view work disconnected from their overall personal life; usually because they see it as the way to obtain funds to support their personal life.  If we spend most of our awake time at our job, and it is misaligned with our values and beliefs, we fall prey to “zombie effect”: disconnection from one-self.  After COVID, this historical approach is being challenged.  A new trend has been unleashed driving people to make different choices.  This is evidenced by the highest level of resignations, pivots in careers, and hard work stop in the last 20 years.  People are on the move, and whether they realize it or not, many of them are in search of this work-life integration.

In this time of change, being able to clearly describe what we are about is even more critical.  This needs to be the driving force guiding the life choices we are making. Personally, until recently I saw myself as Corporate HR, Coach, Yoga Instructor, Dancer, Meditator, etc. All independent from each other… After using #DuncanWardle T-Sheet approach to brainstorming (capturing ideas in full sentences vs. bullet points,) I finally developed an integrated view of myself.  I can now see and describe my expertise in blocks, regardless of the chronological order in which they occurred.  These blocks are experiences that build on one another and shape me. This new understanding now enables me to have an all-encompassing view of myself:  I am a Passionate Human Transformation Leader in my personal and professional life.

I am a champion of people who want to become more self-aware and want to become the best version of themselves. I fulfill this by seeking personal growth and improvement every day, and by bringing people along into this journey.  Thanks to these reflections I now have my LinkedIn profile that reflects this.

Is Integration something that you can use to upgrade your LinkedIn profile to show What Are You All About?
