October 21

October 21 is a day to celebrate! I am sure that many memorable events happened… for me it is my mom’s birthday.

I have been blessed with having her in my life. As I think of people influential in my life, she comes to mind immediately. Her generosity, love, drive, a huge heart and passion to become a better woman and bringing those around her is what I have inherited.

Nelita’s example has shaped who I am and many of her students and people that she has touched. She is an immigrant, as I am, proud of her heritage. She managed with her siblings to instill a love and family union that I cannot explain. Even though we have not been as much as we would have liked to in Brazil, there is a profound love and union within our direct and extended family. There is a genuine enjoyment of being together, supporting each other and being there when needed. We are apart and united at the same time (despite being many miles apart).

My mom, a beautiful woman inside and out. Determined, intelligent, tenacious, loving, disciplined, brilliant business woman, entrepreneur, educator, generous, authentic, prosperous, positive… and so much more… An extraordinary human overall. She is my example to continue polishing and growing as a better person and woman.
