Recharge & Re-energize
How busy are you these days? I have been extremely busy with work and personal activities. It seems I excel at keep myself in a constant busy state, and the environments I surround myself with enable and support that.
Last week I had a hard stop after I learned that I tested positive for COVID. I was rushing to finish all my work activities and getting my home ready for my family's arrival for the holidays. In an instant all the plans and activities came to a halt. All the rush and commotion became rest and recovery. I would love to be out and continue to do my normal activities, yet I know must do my part to prevent others from being affected by the virus. It is a strange feeling.
One again my health steps in and forces me to take some most needed rest. Years ago, when I had surgery, I promised myself that I would be more aware of when I need to slow down. I realize my comfort zone is Busyness, and I get into this state to avoid dealing with what I need to address. Slowing down and taking time for ourselves is a necessity that needs to fit in our schedules. For me this self-care is taking time to sleep enough hours to allow my body to recover, setting time aside to do my things and slowing down to focus on what is important.
I will give myself time to reflect and truly understand what matters to me. I will be away from my family this holiday season and will need to be in quarantine. A forced “Me Time.” Life is wise and gives us what we need in the most interesting ways.
Give yourself the time to recharge and re energize yourself. Do it voluntarily as a habit to care for yourself.
